Digital Networks Releases New Premium Ubuntu Desktop Range

Today sees the launch of a new range of premium desktops designed for Ubuntu. The following systems are available:

Deskstar D350
AMD Athlon X2 or Phenom II X4 system

Deskstar D450
Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad system

Deskstar D550
Intel Core i7 system

Features common to each system include:

• Cooler Master chassis with lots of room for upgrades
• High-end OCZ power supply
• Premium motherboard with lots of expansion
• Dual- and triple-channel memory configurations
• Latest SATA disks with 32MB cache
• Range of NVIDIA graphics cards for lightning fast graphics
• 8 channel audio and gigabit Ethernet
• Ubuntu 8.10 pre-installed

These systems are designed to occupy the middle ground between cheap functional desktop systems and the very expensive systems sold by various vendors which tend to include water cooling, 1200 watt power supplies, multiple graphics adapters and are housed in very large chassis.

We believe that once start paying over �1000 + VAT, the law of diminishing returns takes effect and the value drops considerably.

With these systems we are striving to offer excellent performance in Linux based operating systems without it costing an arm and a leg.
