
Digital Networks Releases New Xeon Servers Based On The New Nehalem Architecture |

Today sees the launch of a new range of Xeon servers based on the new "Nehalem" architecture:
Teraserve R2550
2U rackmount server
Teraserve R3550
3U rackmount server
Netserver G550
Deskside server
Features common to each server include:
- Single or dual Xeon processors
- Up to 96GB of RAM
- PCI Express 2.0
- SATA or SAS RAID options
- IPMI and iKVM as standard
- CentOS, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE and Ubuntu available
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 available
- KVM, OpenVZ, Xen and VMware virtualization platforms available
The processor now includes an integrated memory controller supporting three DDR3 memory channels.
A new point-to-point processor interconnect called QuickPath replaces the legacy front side bus. This provides up to 25.6GB/sec of bandwidth.
